Nezumi's Children -- Out in the Wild! (A Contest)

Rats are hardy, adaptable creatures.  They've lived in the shadow of mankind for thousands of years and have followed us to every continent.  They reproduce rapidly and learn to excel in any environment.

I want to do a little challenge and see whether a book about rats can do the same thing.

The link above will take you to my Facebook event, and I invite you all to come join in the fun.  The contest is pretty simple, as you can see above.  You just need to try and "release" a book out into the wild.  How do you do that?  The options are limitless!
  • Call your local bookstore and ask to order a copy.  If enough people ask, they might even start stocking it themselves.
  • Call your local library and request that they order the book.  It's available to libraries as both a paperback and an ebook.
  • Buy a copy of your own through any channel and set it free: Leave it on a bus, take it to a used bookstore, put it on a paperback rack at your workplace, sell it at your rescue's information booth, whatever.
Take a picture of yourself with the book wherever you find it in the wild -- whether you're the one releasing it or the one finding it.  Also be sure to snap a photo of yourself with it when you buy a copy for yourself -- everyone gets a free entry that way even if you can't manage to get it released into the wild!

Upload the photo to the contest's event page.

For every photo uploaded, I'll add $5 to a prize pot.  At Christmas, I'll draw names from among those who entered the contest, and the winner will get a choice: You can either get the amount of the prize pot in a gift card to the venue of your choice, OR I will donate the pot to the charity of your choice.

This should be a lot of fun.  I'll be doing my part to release some copies into the wild myself, and I'll let you know where they are so you can try and capture one for a photo opportunity ;)

Any questions?  Feel free to ask!

Otherwise, head on over to the Facebook page and let's play a fun game!
